An Action Packed Programme
The Adventure capital of the South West. Portland’s towering limestone cliffs and surrounding expanse of water make it the perfect location for your DofE Gold Residential. You’ll be Coasteering around Portland Bill, Climbing and abseiling some of the most impressive sea cliffs in Dorset and getting the chance to walk sections of the South West coast path.
There will be an obligatory stop for an Ice-cream at Church ‘Ope Cove plus you’ll be getting on the water with the ever-present chance of a dolphin sighting!
In the evening, we’ll be relaxing with beach BBQ’s, incredible sunsets and an opportunity to participate in an environmental workshop. A full week!
Your Week
Staying in our converted Victorian hotel, you and your likeminded group will live and cook together as well as participate in a full programme of activities
Our staff will help you bond as a group and support you so that you can make the most of your week with us. With a maximum group size of x16 people you will quickly get to know everyone and the range of activities will give you the chance to shine.
We have the luxury of being able to walk sections of the stunning South West Coast path to access some of our activity locations. Even the travel is part of the programme, enabling us to have full and fun days outdoors.
On your final day, you’ll get the chance to build a fire on a remote foreshore. You’ll forage and cook on the famous Chesil beach.
Our Team
The DofE Gold Residential programme is run by the team at Portland Outdoor Centre. Portland has been delivering high quality outdoor programmes since 2017 and is proud to have created a quality, enjoyable and rememberable experience in the form of our Gold Residential package.
Our instructors balance safety with fun to ensure that you have the best experience we can achieve.

Price
2024 Total programme price of £390 includes £35 to the communal food kitty for your food purchases for the week, activities, instruction, safety equipment and shared accommodation at Portland Outdoor Centre.
